Ever since I can remember, I have had bumps on my arms, bumps that drove me nuts and always “called” me to pick at them. My mom used to point out other kids that picked at their arms to show me how bad that looked in order to get me to leave my arms alone. Of course the bumps looked worse after I picked at them, but it was a daily habit of mine, one that I could not break. I was taken to the family doctor and told to use this cream and by the time I was 18, these bumps, my so called eczema, would go away. Guess what, the morning of my 18th birthday, I sat up out of bed, rubbed my arms and bumps were still there!
Once I got married, I still had the bumps and both my sons have the bumps as well. They really don’t stand out until someone touches your arms and then you know what they are thinking. I had this happen to me all through school and hate for it to happen to my children. I have seen another dermatologist in the past years and they have also given cream, but still bumps! I have seen many commercials on television covering eczema which shows redness, and itching which we DO NOT have. We just have bumps that can be squeezed like pimples, but then they look worse so they are better off not being messed with, just like my mother tried to tell me for years!
My sons have not been teased as of yet and I wish I could find a way to cure this before they have to feel how I felt going through school with this not wanting to wear sleeveless shirts for fear of more people noticing my “bumps.” I have been looking online for an answer and came across CaliforniaSkinInstitute.com where they specialize in medical dermatology and skin diseases. I don’t live in California, so I can’t pay them a visit, but I think I’m going to give them a call and see if there is any way they can still help me with this issue.
Do you have the same skin issues? Are you using anything to treat this? If so, please let me know how you treat it so I can test it out on myself before trying it on my boys.
