I love learning about new exercise and weight loss programs.  I just found out about Crossfit and wanted to tell you about it since the holidays are around the corner and weight loss may be on your mind right now, I know it is on mine!  The number one key to finding a great exercise program is finding one that you love.

What is CrossFit? A great way to lose weight. It’s also a program of strength and conditioning that gives you a wide variety of effective exercises to burn calories. The more calories you burn, along with a balanced diet, the more you will lose weight and feel healthier.

If you want to lose weight, you have to develop a can-do attitude and discipline and burn more calories than you take in. That means driving pass those fast-food restaurants and adding plenty of fruits and vegetables along with healthy fats and lean proteins. Think of your body like your car: what you put into it is crucial for maximum drive. Reward yourself in other ways other than food – a movie or a massage.

Ten types of physical activity are part of the CrossFit workouts: accuracy, agility, balance, coordination, endurance, flexibility, power, speed, stamina and strength.

What is CrossFit? It is a full, body conditioning workout that raises your heart rate, burns calories, and builds lean muscles. When you have more lean muscle mass, you burn more calories not only during your workout but also the rest of your day, even when resting. Your metabolism remains high due to the intense workouts, which becomes effective in losing weight.

CrossFit combines cardiovascular and strength training exercises. The basics include push-ups, sit-ups, running and rowing. The program uses medicine balls, kettlebells, rowing machines and a variety of other tools to help you lose weight. You can choose from a huge variety of exercise regimes such as the Burpees, a body-weight-only workout where you begin in a standing position, drop to the floor and do a push-up, then go back up to a squatting position and jump straight-up.

Frequency is important. With this program, you exercise at least three to five days a week in short but intense workouts. The multidimensional workouts provide different challenges and push you further than you thought you could go.
