Through all the hustle and bustle of the holiday, do not forget the “reason for the season.” Love your family and friends, show them some attention and find extra time to spend with them. When’s the last time you sat down with someone and just talked over a cup of hot chocolate or favorite drink? Keeping hot chocolate and marshmallow creme in the house is a minimal price to pay for the warm and fuzzy feelings it gives my son every morning when we drink a cup together. So many bad things are happening in this world, we need to enjoy the time we have together because sadly, our loved ones can be taken away from us at any time.
If you are down and having a bad day, always remember, there is someone else out there that is experiencing something that is far worse than what you are dealing with today. Throughout the online community, I have met so many great people and unfortunately have heard about so many horrible experiences in their lives. Miscarriages, loss of a child, loss of a loved one, job loss, house foreclosures, loss of a family pet, knee deep parking tickets, surgeries, divorce, money shortage, handicaps, robberies, no Christmas gifts, vehicle problems……..so many sad issues, so many families.
It is very important, to remember not to take anything for granted because it can be taken from us at any minute. Never leave a loved one when you are mad, never hang up on someone over the phone when you are mad. Remember the children and school staff whose lives were taken in the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting. Keep their families in your prayers. As a parent, I know how deep the love for your child runs and I can’t begin to explain the way I feel for those families right now. As a former teacher, I want you to know that teacher’s truly love their students, and I know in my heart that each one of those teachers in Sandy Hook Elementary School did everything in their power to protect their students. There was no way to prevent what happened and it is so sad that someone would take out their problems inside a school full of innocent children that couldn’t fight back. Love your family and don’t put off spending time with them, because sadly, we never know what tomorrow may bring.

Oh friend, this is just what I needed to read today. Its so true, we need to stop and smell the roses, drink some hot chocolate and appreciate what we have because to someone else we are the luckiest people in the world. Love more, live more and be more thankful.
Perfect Dawn – Love more, live more and be more thankful – that is my Christmas wish for everyone this year!
Couldn’t have put it better myself. Last week I caught myself getting completely wrapped up in work, shopping and the daily grind, but the horrific events of Friday put everything into perspective and prompted me to give my girls extra kisses and cuddles at every possible moment.
Like you, I cannot comprehend what the families are going through now, and hope they find strength from somewhere during the dark days ahead.
Keep those hugs and cuddles coming Kathryn, they are good for everyone:)
