Saving money on monthly bills is a great way to cut down on expenses. Every year after realizing how much money we spent over the holidays, I try to find ways to save money by altering our current bills. Here are a few places that I like to check for savings when I evaluate my bills:
- We have two vehicles and every year I compare car insurance rates and quotes a month or so before my car insurance comes up for renewal. Calling around for quotes on auto insurance rates has helped me find deals that I wouldn’t have known about if I hadn’t checked around on my own.
- I also like to make it a yearly habit to check on cable tv and internet prices. Sometimes cable companies have great deals they will offer new customers and they will give them to you as well if they feel that you are unhappy with your current plans. I have a bundled package and found out that it saves me more to take the bundle along with the home phone that I don’t use, than it would if I dropped the home phone off my plan.
- Another way to cut prices on one of your monthly bills is to check with your cell phone carrier about your current phone plans. Phone plans change from time to time and there may be a better plan out there for you besides the one you are currently using. We have a family share plan which is cheaper than if each of us paid for our own data / minutes. Of course my data usage is the highest, while my son hardly uses any at all. With the share plan, I am able to use my data, plus most of his and he still gets full use of his phone. One other way we save money with our cell phones is by going with the same provider as our immediate family members. Since everyone is using the same provider, we can all call each other without using any of our minutes.
