Valentine’s Day DIY

Valentine’s Day is a fun and exciting holiday for people of all ages.  Whether you’re retired, a schoolteacher, a busy mother, or five years old, chances are there is something about Valentine’s Day that you enjoy and find appealing.  One of the most enjoyable aspects of Valentine’s Day, for me, is that there are so many fun crafts to be made!  Whether you want to make something for your child, for your parents, or simply for a good friend, there are an unlimited number of fun projects you can do or make that are sure to bring joy to the people around you.

Here are just a few of the fun things you can make yourself on Valentine’s Day:

  1. -Have your child dip his hands in pink and red paint.  Help your child place his hands side by side on a piece of paper with the bottoms of his hands touching to form a small heart.  Sprinkle with glitter.  When the paint dries, help your child write his name on the heart.
  2. -Pick up some red, pink, and white embroidery thread and make friendship bracelets for the special people in your life.  Even if your friends are all grown ups, friendship bracelets can double as creative key chains or crafty bookmarks.
  3. -Write a special letter to a friend or significant other.  Let them know how special they are to you.  Write your letter on a homemade card.  If you aren’t comfortable making a card, consider using fancy scissors to edge construction paper and write your letter on there.

Regardless of your religious affiliation, stage of life, or political views, Valentine’s Day is one holiday that anyone can enjoy, cherish, and love.  Remember, even if you don’t have a romantic interest in your life, Valentine’s Day is a wonderful time to show the people around you that you care.
