I have been short on time lately trying to juggle tax preparation, my advertising site and my blog, so I thought I’d do my shopping online in order to save a little time. I knew what I was going to buy and what store I would need to find it. I went to store #1 and of course they didn’t sell the exact style of jeans that I knew fit my son, so I had to track them down at store #2. Of course prices were higher and I would have to pay shipping, but at least I didn’t have to make a trip to the store and hunt these particular jeans down in hopes of finding the right size for my son.
After finding the jeans, I figured I’d go ahead and get the socks, underwear and shorts that I needed while I was in the mood to online shop. I found everything I wanted, loaded it into my shopping cart and then realized I needed to buy another $10 item and I’d get free shipping. I figured I’d rather get another tee shirt than have to spend money on shipping, so I continued shopping and went to check out the clearance section. I lucked out and found a great dress shirt for my husband and then I was ready to check out. I had already spent more time shopping than I had wanted since I was only going for one pair of jeans, and then I figured I’d track down a promo code to use at the checkout. I tried several codes and of course none of them would work. Then I decided to just check out and forget the discount and then I realized the shopping cart wasn’t working. I couldn’t believe it. I had spent all this time trying to save time by shopping online and then the darn shopping cart wouldn’t let me check out! I went back to the store several times and finally the cart decided to work. I was able to purchase my items with free shipping since I spent $75 on my purchases.
Does this ever happen to you? Do you spend more money than you intend to in order to get free shipping or receive an extra discount off a promo code? Do you prefer online shopping or would you rather make a trip to the store?
