Do you make it a point to add extra protein in your diet? Do you drink protein drinks or eat protein packed snacks or bars throughout the day? I exercise 3 – 4 times a week and am always on the lookout for great tasting protein drinks and bars to add to my diet. Lately I have been trying out tons and tons of new flavors and brands from the grocery. Some of my choices have been great, some have been ok and some of them have just been plain horrible. One of my favorite protein drinks is Muscle Milk Light. Since I liked them so well, I looked them up online at CytoSport.com and found out that they offered many more products than the ones at my grocery.
So…I contacted them and they sent me over some products to test out.
Of course, I went for one of the Fit N Crisp Promax bars first, it doesn’t exactly taste like a Rice Krispy Treat, but for a protein bar, I would definitely purchase these. They have 13 g protein, 3 g fat and only 140 calories and can be purchased from PromaxNutrition.com. I love it when I find the low calorie bars, that just means more for me if I have a day where I am having a hard time controlling my “sweet” cravings.
As you can see, I was already a Muscle Milk fan, and had been buying chocolate Evolve and Muscle Milk Light, but CytoSport sent me the Vanilla Creme which I hadn’t tried before and now…..that flavor has been promoted to my grocery list, right about the chocolate. The Evolve and Muscle Milk Light are for my husband and I, while the full flavored Muscle Milk is for my 12 year old son who works out many, many hours a week, both in the gym and on the basketball court. These drinks are great to drink right after your workout. I usually pack mine in a cooler and drink it on the way home from the gym.
Here is the nutritional info from the back of the Muscle Milk protein powder and the Evolve . My son and I are mixing the Muscle Milk protein drinks and sharing them since there are 2 servings per pack, but the Evolve is strictly for me. It contains Tonalin which helps reduce body fat, which is definitely not an issue for my son. If you are looking for a great tasting protein drink, I would definitely pick up a bottle of Muscle Milk, Muscle Milk Light or Evolve and give it a try. You can buy them already chilled in many stores. Trust me, I have tried my fair share of these drinks, and there are many great tasting ones, but there are also those that you’re better off not touching….LOL I love the Muscle Milk because they also offer the Muscle Milk Light and the Evolve which have low calories, high protein and elevated Fiber.
