The 4th of July is a big deal in our country, and if you want to experience a spectacular fireworks show while attending the best parties in the nation, then you’ll want to visit one of the following four cities this year.

1. New York City

AOL ranks the Macy’s Firework Spectacular in New York City the biggest show in the nation considering the amount of people, weight of fireworks, and length of show. With 75,000 pounds of fireworks, it’s no wonder it attracts over two million people each July. Set over the Hudson River, you can enjoy the firework show from various points throughout the West Side and New Jersey. The show starts around 9 p.m. and lasts approximately 25 minutes.

When in New York City, it isn’t too difficult to find great lodging deals. Being a member of a vacation club is the best way to stay on top of deals and promotions. You can research vacation clubs like Royal Holiday on Wikipedia to learn more about ways you can save.  If you’d like to learn more, be sure to Like Royal Holiday on Facebook.

2. Boston

The Boston Pops Firework Spectacular is another incredible show that will have you marveling this Independence Day. As one of the most expensive shows, it spends around $2.5 million each year to celebrate, and it lasts about 20 minutes. The fireworks shoot over the Charleston River, attracting nearly 500,000 people, so make sure to get to the riverbank early to snag a spot; otherwise, head to the Longfellow or Harvard bridges for clear view.

Aside from this incredible event, Boston also hosts the Boston Harborfest throughout the week, featuring over 200 daily events. Popular things to do at the festival include patriotic ceremonies, children’s activities, Declaration of Independence readings, concerts, boat tours, scavenger hunts, and so much more.

3. Washington D.C.

Home to our nation’s capital, it makes sense that Washington D.C. is the place to visit on the 4th of July. The Capitol Fourth firework display lasts 20 minutes starting at 9 p.m. Located at the National Mall, the show attracts over 500,000 people who watch in awe as 66,000 pounds of fireworks illuminate the sky and dance to the sound of The National Symphony Orchestra. Before the firework display, head to Mount Vernon for a wreath laying ceremony, free cake, and more, or watch the parade before the firework show.

4. Atlantic City

If you’re interested in a long, glorious firework display, check out the Atlantic City show, which is one of the longest in the nation. The first part lasts 22 minutes over the marina, and the second part consists of a 24-minute display along the boardwalk and the beach. The firework show isn’t the only thing to do to celebrate Independence Day in Atlantic City; you can also watch parades, listen to live music, and participate in other activities hosted by various organizations throughout the city.

Even if these cities aren’t close to home, you can find countless other shows and parties throughout the nation every 4th of July, but if you ever find the chance, don’t miss these astounding spectacles.
