I was given a Minit Kids Fruits & Veggies download to use in facilitating my review. All opinions are mine and mine alone.
Minti Kids Fruits & Veggies is a great iPhone app for young children. It is now featured in Apple App Store’s TOP 10 for Educational Games in 152 countries. The game settings allow for game play for kids under 3 and kids older than 3. My boys are too old for this, with my youngest being 7, but they still had fun reviewing this app with me. We played the games for children over three and my kids weren’t able to guess all of the fruits and veggies on the game because they just weren’t familiar with them. The ones they learned while playing this game were: fig, eggplant, melon and okra. This was very good for my 7 year old’s reading skills, but the simplicity of the game didn’t hold his attention long enough for him to grasp the different spellings of the fruits and veggies.
Minti Fruits and Veggies teaches the children which fruits and veggies are associated with the different seasons. As you can see above on my son’s phone, there is Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter for the children to select.
Here’s a screen for a child over three years old. It is split up into three parts, with the top section mainly being the hardest section to match up.
The child is also periodically awarded for doing well with a sticker. The eggplant was matched up right before this sticker was awarded. These stickers are great for positive reinforcement.
Here’s a screen for a child under three years old. It is split up into two parts, whereas the harder level has three parts for the children to match up.
