One thing a lot of moms worry about is taking time for themselves. Sometimes moms think that it’s selfish or mean to take time to focus on themselves. The truth of the matter is, though, that you can’t let yourself become only a mom. It’s important to retain your identity as a woman and make sure to take time to do things that you enjoy. If you only focus on your kids, you may actually find that you become more stressed or anxious and possibly even resentful since you won’t have time to do the things that you enjoy.
When possible, involve your kids in things you like to do. For example, maybe you like to quilt. Consider working on a quilting project with your kids. Let older kids help embroider a few quilt squares while younger kids can finger paint a square to put into your quilt. If you like to jog, consider getting a jogging stroller so you can bring younger kids with you on your excursions. You’ll get to exercise, enjoy some personal time, but still involve your family.
As a mother, it can be easy to get into the habit of wearing yoga pants and t-shirts, walking around with messy hair, and letting yourself go. Simply by going and getting your nails done, taking the time to put on a little bit of makeup, or buying yourself a new outfit, you can help improve your self esteem and make yourself feel great. We all know that when we feel good about ourselves, we view the world a little brighter. Make this year your best ever by taking the time to do things for yourself as well as for your family.
