If you’ve been looking for new ways to promote your blog, eBook, or business, you’re in luck! Both Twitter and Facebook have several ways that you can gain even more exposure for your products. While you might only have a few followers or fans, it’s still possible to get people to see what you’re selling. Perhaps one of the most important things you can do to market your blog or website is to learn about hashtags (#) and the power of tagging someone using the @ symbol.
.
When you’re using Twitter or Facebook, a hashtag is something that you can use to get more readers or viewers. The # symbol followed by a short word or phrase will create a link. Anyone who clicks it will be able to see posts throughout all of Twitter and Facebook that use that phrase. For example, a sample Tweet might include a link to your blog post and say something like, “Want to learn how to #savemoney? Check out my #post on #coupons.” Any word or phrase that includes the hashtag will show up in searches for those hashtags. The same is true on Facebook.
.
Tagging someone in a post involves using the @ symbol. Whether you use Facebook or Twitter, tagging involves the same process. Type @ followed by the person’s username. This will create a link to their profile or fan page. Additionally, the person will receive the notification that you tagged them. Tagging is great if you want to make sure that someone sees a post or if you want to help someone promote their site.

Have you ever used the @ or # symbols on Twitter or Facebook? What did your followers think?
