Ring Toss Game Pays For Carnival Bracelets

It’s school carnival time!  Lots of food, games and prizes to check out.  My kids and I skip the food booths in order to more playing time, but check out the line above, many families can’t wait to get their hands on the Tropical Shaved Ice drinks.

The toilet paper and toilet lid game is Bobby’s favorite.  Who thought that a game could be played using a toilet lid and a roll of toilet paper with a rubber band wrapped around it.  You have to admit, it does look fun.  Each time your toilet paper made it through the toilet let, you won a ticket.  Everyone wanted to win those tickets since they could be redeemed for small items at the ticket redemption booth.

The two liter ring toss is another favorite game.  Bobby likes the challenge of landing a ring on a two liter bottle, but he doesn’t drink sodas so there’s no “win” for him except being a ring toss winner.  For my 13 year old, this game is a little more serious.  For one, he does like soda, but he looks at this game as a way of earning back the money it cost me to send them to the carnival.  This was something he figured out a few years ago and has been doing it ever since.  We bought two game bracelets so we could play unlimited games which cost me a total of $10.00.  Travis figures that if I were to pay $1.25 per two liter, then he needs to win at least 8 two liters to earn back the money spent on the carnival.  Please know that this is none of my doing, this is all the thrifty side of my 13 year old son.

As you can see, the boys made it home with 8 two liters, just enough to earn the money back that was spent on their carnival bracelets.  The carnival was a success, both for a day of fun with friends as well as a successful day at the ring toss game for Travis.

Is your school carnival coming up soon?  What are your favorite games to play?

  1. I love when schools get together like that.
I’d want to play more games too.

And I’ve heard good things about shaved ice.

Our school has a fun day of sorts. I have no idea when it will arrive.

  2. lol I had something to say then it was like.. oh man math, too early. 🙂 lol anyway. I think it is wonderful when the schools do things like this for their students. Our school is having a teacher basketball game Thursday and the kids are so excited to see their teachers as more than just teachers. 🙂 Your son is going to be a good man when he grows up. That is a maturity that most his age do not posses. Thank you for sharing.

  3. So this is where you’ve been stealing all the kids’ juice from 🙂 A big bravo to you for staying away from the food booth as play time is much more fun.

    1. Yes, I try to not use food as a reward and sometimes it is so hard to do when places like this tempt you with pizza and shaved ice. We had a great time at the carnival and then went out to eat as a family.

  4. This looks like so much fun! We love taking our kids to carnivals like this in the summer time. I think that it’s great that fun can be had while raising money. It’s also a good way to get children involved.

  5. very smart kid. he is not all about having fun but gaining as well, not a bad idea. the carnival looks fun. our school carnival here usually indoor and it’s kindda boring
