What Are Your Favorite Peeps?

I’m sure you’ve seen the Peeps in the store by now and if you’re like me, then you’ve already bought a few boxes of them.  What is your favorite color or shape?  I prefer every color except for the pink ones which tend to sometimes have a “red dye” taste to them.  Maybe it is just me, but sometimes food with red dye has a “dye” taste to me.  As far as the shape of choice, I prefer the bunnies to the chicks, I feel that I can enjoy the bunnies a little longer since I tend to section them out when I eat them.

Peeps have always been a favorite of mine, but they were also my mom’s favorites too.  I can remember her taking a package of Peeps and opening it up in the cabinet so her Peeps would get a little on the hard, stale side.  I like my Peeps fresh, but she looked forward to eating the “stale” ones once they had time to harden a little.  Maybe her Peeps were always stale when she was a child, who knows, but it is something that I will always remember about her.  Do you have special Peep memories?

Now for the one of the newest additions to the Peep family, the Party Cake flavored Peeps!  Believe it or not, I was introduced to Party Cake Peeps through my Instagram account.  Once I heard about this new flavor, I started looking for it and finally found them at the HEB grocery store.  These are the first Peeps that I’ve ever seen with the colored sprinkles on them.  The marshmallow inside is a yellowish color instead of plain white and they are just fun Peeps to try out if you get a chance.

Now there are other types of Easter candy that I love, but when watching your calories, Peeps are great because you can eat 5 of them for only 140 calories.  Face it, after eating five of these, which is a whole sleeve of Peeps, you should be satisfied.  Most candy bars are well over 140 calories and sometimes after eating one of those, I could still eat a little more.  So for now, Peeps for me, but sooner or later, I’ll opt for one of those Cadbury Carmel Eggs or the Reese Peanut Butter Eggs.
