Today, I wanted to share with you how some tips on how to effectively build a Brand for your blog.

Define Your Brand on Social Media

If you have already created social media accounts on the popular social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and G+), I highly recommend that you create an account using your Brand’s name whenever possible. If your brand name is taken come up with another way to get your brand name into the username. Why is it important to choose your brand name? Your brand name is going to define who you are on social media. Once you have your social media accounts set up, it is very important to set up your profile and add a photo. Remember when you are choosing your photo, it is important to choose one that represents you or your brand. Never leave the default photo on your profile. Do make sure that you use the same default photo if possible on all of your social media accounts, it helps people easily recognize your brand. Add a few main keywords or topics to your profile so that people can easily figure out who you are and what you topics you enjoy talking about.

Backlinking 101

Most of you are probably already aware that Google has made a ton of changes over the several months and has made it harder for people to rank using backlinks only. Google is slowly weeding out the spam sites. As a blogger, it is important that you follow ALL of Google’s changes. When you are liking to your site, you want to make sure that you do it on a steady and consistent basis. Backlinks are vital part of building your brand and links are necessary for growth. As you are visiting other blogs, don’t be afraid to chime in on the conversation by leaving a comment for the reader.  Google typically won’t penalize you for using your name @ Your Brand Name in the name field on another person’s website.  Google recognizes that it is YOUR brand name. Don’t forget to add a link to your homepage or an individual post on your site(which is referred to as deep linking).

Take Time and Build Relationships

It is very important to take the time and build a lasting relationship with others, especially, people that you meet on social media. Don’t be afraid to reach out and connect with other people that you don’t know on social media. After all,  the last thing you want to do is to turn off a potential customer by pitching your product or service too quickly. Instead, take the time and focus on the relationship that you are gaining and work on building their trust.

Effectively Market Your Content

As you are working very hard and diligently to design, write new content, and come up with ideas for your blog, would you be upset if people didn’t read or see all of the work that you did? Most bloggers don’t have hours upon hours of time wasted and if you don’t take the time to market your blog your blog will more than likely suffer. Don’t waste any more of your time and create a marketing plan for your blog. In fact, social media is a great place to start. It is a good idea for you to find other places online to promote your blog, and you can even work with an agency to boost your brand and get your name out there for all to see. It is a good idea to make sure that you have social sharing buttons on your website so that readers can easily share your content with others. Whatever you do, don’t go and spam a bunch of sites with your content. Instead, find relevant places on the web and share your content.

  1. I don’t know too much about branding and much of what I’ve done with my blog is by the seat of my pants and gut feelings! The above is very good advice and I plan to revisit this post to go over it more carefully.
