Recipe: Chocolate Cupcake Peanut Butter Surprise

Another great recipe just in from Recipe Linda!  Today she says:  This is just something that I do with chocolate cupcakes and miniature Reeses Peanut Butter cups and most everyone likes it.  I call this Chocolate Cupcake Peanut Butter Surprise.  You will love it because it is quick and simple to do!

Chocolate Cupcake Peanut Butter Surprise RECIPE

You will need

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix any kind you prefer
  • 1 Reese’s Miniature for every cupcake you make and a few for snacking on just in case you have “helpers”while you are making these

Directions

  • Make the cake mix according to the package directions and pour the mix into your cupcake pans as usual.
  • Drop one miniature Reeses Peanut Butter Cup on top of each unbaked cupcake.  The Reeses Peanut Butter Cups will sink to bottom as they cook and they will make a nice surprise when kids bite into them.
  • I use canned chocolate frosting to save time with these, but your favorite homemade icing will taste great too.  Since these cupcakes have peanut butter in them, it is not recommended that you make these for a class party since there are so many children that have peanut allergies, but they are perfect for a special day with your family.

cupcake heart

We attended a birthday pool party last night and they served cupcakes.  They make the heart shaped cupcake arrangement as seen above and also served individual cupcakes in both vanilla and chocolate.  Since it was a little girl’s birthday party, the vanilla cupcakes were iced with pink icing.  From my experience with cupcakes at my sons’ birthday parties, there are always a few children who do not like icing, so we always offer non iced cupcakes as well.

Birthday parties always create special memories with family and friends.  How do you back up and organize the photos that you take with your phone?   Have you ever looked into EverAlbum.com?  They even have a FREE app for your phone.  One of the ladies at the pool party told me about it last night when I was complaining about not being able to take any pictures on my phone because I had maxed out my storage space.  I downloaded it and plan on testing it out this week.

What are some of your favorite birthday party memories?  Will you be organizing a birthday party soon?  What kinds of foods do you serve?
