How will you celebrate July 4th this year?

39th annual South County 4th of July Parade

If you live near the Woodlands Texas area, you can get in on all the fun at the 39th annual South County 4th of July Parade.  This year’s parade kicks off at 9 a.m. on July 4th, which falls on a Friday.   The parade is scheduled to begin at Lake Woodlands Drive and Grogan’s Mill Road.  The floats and entries will then make a circle around Market Street and will end on Lake Woodlands Drive.

“The Lone Star – The Brightest Star of Them All” themed July 4th Woodlands parade offers over 100 parade entries.  There will also be five high school marching bands at this year’s parade from Hempstead, Willis, College Park, La Marque and The Woodlands High School marching band.

Concert In The Park

This concert will be held at Waterway Square, The Woodlands, Texas featuring live music and patriotic activities which will start at 5:30 pm..

Red Hot & Blue Festival

If you’d rather come out to celebrate during the evening, then hop on over to the Red Hot & Blue Festival.  It will run from 6 – 10 p.m. in Town Green Park and along the Woodlands Waterway.   This festival is totally free and open to the public.

Fireworks Extravaganza

Fireworks display will begin at dusk as long as weather permits.  If you’d like to hear the simulcast, you can find that on Sunny 99.1.  Make sure to get your seats early, the parking lots will fill up quickly.  Expect long waits to pull out of the parking lots once the fireworks show has come to an end.  We always take our family to the fireworks show and watch it from the bed of our pickup form the parking lot.  It is also a great idea to carry a cooler and snacks to eat throughout the night.

Whatever your family’s 4th of July plans are, remember BE SAFE!  Many people will be drinking and acting irresponsibly which can lead to dangerous situations.
