Disclaimer:  I was given a copy of Cindy Lou and Sammy Too Go To The Mall:  The Adventures of a Guide Dog Team in return for a post on my site.

Cindy Lou and Sammy Too Go To the Mall was written by Cheryl McNeil Fisher and illustrated by Lisa O’Gorman Hofsommer.  It is a short chapter book for kids which helps children understand the important role of a guide dog in the daily life of a blind person.  My kids and I have seen several guide dogs walking in stores with people which have brought on some interesting conversations.  When I was approached about this book I thought this would be a great way to continue the guide dog talks with my eight year old.

Bobby was especially pleased to see the author’s signature inside the book.  Receiving a new book is one thing, but receiving one that is signed, knowing that the author took the time to personalize it for him was definitely another.

Above you’ll see a picture of the back cover of the book.  If you’d like to email either the author or illustrator, their email addresses are listed above.  Bobby’s school has a dog that comes to school to participate in their reading program.  That dog’s job is to sit with the child while they read to him through the tutoring session.  Bobby spent some time with this special furry friend, so he was especially interested in learning more about the life of a guide dog and it’s owner.

You can find this book on Amazon available in paperback and ebook format.  If you should pick it up, make sure and leave the author a review, she’d love to hear from you.
