Trip To Toronto Canada Was A Blast!

Here’s the sign that my husband and I saw each day on our walk back to our hotel when my husband and I visited Toronto, Canada for the Word on the Street National Book Festival.  I wanted to get a picture of our hotel but waited too long and then it rained, so the picture above was my best bet for a motel memory picture.  We didn’t have much time to enjoy the area, but we made the most of the time that we had there and had a blast!

We spent our afternoon at my husband’s book signing event for his book, An Average Joe’s Pursuit For Financial Freedom.  Check out “Our Experience at Toronto’s Word On The Street National Book Festival” to see more pictures and find out about the event.

Here’s the view that we saw from our hotel window.

Toronto was very big on recycling and even had recycling containers in the hotel rooms and spread throughout the hotel lobby, floors, etc.  This was the first time that I had ever seen a recycle bin inside my hotel room.  I packed light since we had to go through customs and planned on using hotel shampoo, lotion, etc.  To my surprise, this hotel didn’t offer lotion and this was also a first for me.  Have you ever been to a hotel that didn’t offer complimentary lotion or one that had recycling bins in the rooms?

Canada4 Black Squirrel

Here’s the black squirrel picture that I had to have.  My husband and I decided that he may be a little sick.  Can you see the bald spots on him?  Before leaving for Canada, I talked to Shawna over at and she told me about the black squirrels and the fries and brown gravy. These pics are for you Shawna!

Here’s the fries and brown gravy, this appetizer is known as Poutine.  It is a common Canadian dish, which consists of french fries and cheese curds covered in brown gravy.  For me, I’d rather stick to nachos, but the fries were a must to try.  It tasted like  Kentucky Fried Chicken’s mashed potatoes and gravy bowls, only in french fry form.  Photo Credit:

Here’s a view of Toronto from inside our rental car.  There were many cars, but also tons of bikers and walkers with the college nearby.

When I saw this, I had to get a picture.  I made sure no one was watching and snapped it as quick as I could. I didn’t want someone to think that I was making fun of their DIY bike lock.

This is just another useful way to use those old Ethernet cables.

Finally, the view from our plane.  This was a very fun trip, that I will never forget.  I’m so glad that my husband and I got the opportunity to visit this area.  Check out My Trip To Niagra Falls in Ontario, Canada if you’d like to see more of my pictures from this trip.
