Thinking About Starting A Family?

Starting a family is a big deal!  It is a very exciting time, but it can also be very nerve-wracking and difficult at the same time.  Some couples have a very easy time getting pregnant while others have a bit of a struggle.  If you are one of those couples struggling to get pregnant, there are a few things you can do to help!  Some doctors suggest taking prenatal vitamins before you get pregnant to help your body obtain the nutrients it will need while you are pregnant.  Folic acid is a big requirement in pregnancy, so filling your body with it while you are actively trying to get pregnant can really boost your chances of pregnancy!

You can also track your ovulation cycle!  AccuMed offers some really great and reliable kits.  You can also find them on Amazon here.  When you track your ovulation, you are basically tracking when you release an egg from your ovary.  Once your egg has been released (AKA ovulation) your chances of getting pregnant are much higher.  Once that egg gets fertilized, you’re pregnant!  You are most fertile two to three days before you ovulate. It can be kind of tricky to figure out when you are ovulating, which is why ovulation kits can be so helpful!

To figure out your ovulation window, you need to count back. T ake the day you normally start your menstrual cycle, and count back 12 days plus an additional 4.  You are most likely to ovulate during that 5-day window.  If you have a normal 28-day cycle, you are most likely going to ovulate on day 14.

If you are able to figure out when you are ovulating by counting back, I suggest you use an ovulation kit as well just to make sure you are actually ovulating when you should be!  If both tests (counting and ovulation kit) confirm, you are ready to start trying for your little bundle of joy!
