Things To Consider When Designing Your Nursery

When you are designing your nursery, there are a few things you need to do and consider.  First, make sure that the room you are turning into the nursery is clean.  Deep clean the walls, carpets, baseboards, windows, closet, etc.  You want to make sure that it is as clean as it can be since you will be bringing a newborn in and out of the room.

Do not crowd the nursery with tons of furniture.  Most parents want to have EVERYTHING just in case they may need it one day.  You can save a ton of space by getting a convertible crib that will eventually turn into a toddler bed once your child is old enough.  This is also a huge money-saver as long as you take care of it through each transition!  You should also look into a glider chair or love seat as well as a small dresser.  You do not need much more furniture than that!  Adding too much will crowd the nursery and make it really hard to move throughout it without bumping into something.

You do not want to hang a ton of things on the wall or have many “permanent” fixtures that will be difficult to change later on if you decide you do not want it in your nursery anymore.  The easiest way to decorate a nursery is to decorate the shelves and top of the dresser with picture frames, stuffed animals, etc.

Make sure that you have the necessities all set up and ready to go for when you come home!  Necessities are diapers, wipes, rash creams, lotion, powder, hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, etc.

One of the best tips I can give for designing a nursery is to start now.  Pregnancy can be very exhausting and you might not have the energy to get everything ready by the time your due date rolls around!  The sooner you get everything set up, the more prepared you will be once your baby comes home!  Remember, your nursery is where your baby will spend the majority of his or her time.
