De-cluttering Your Home: Bedroom


De-cluttering can be overwhelming!  Are you looking for ways to de-clutter your home and get rid of items you don’t really need?  Are you having a hard time deciding on what to actually get rid of?  I have a list of items that are most likely duplicates, and you won’t miss them once you toss them because you have more than one!

Here’s part 1: Your bedroom

  • Pillows:  Throw pillows are normally all over your home and all over your bed.  We have a few in each room at our home.  Do we really need all of these pillows?  Check your closets as well.  Regular pillows that are used for sleeping are usually hiding in there.  If you have extras, toss the ones you don’t like as much as the others.  If need be, you can carry a pillow from one room to the other.
  • Sheets:  How many sets of sheets do you actually have?  It’s recommended that you only need one extra sheet set per bed.  If you have a child who wets the bed often and you end up changing the sheets each night, consider getting a waterproof sheet topper.  It’ll save you lots of laundry, and lots of space once you get rid of the extra sheets taking up room in your closet.
  • Hangers:  Are you one of those people who keep hangers from stores on top of the hangers you already own?  Toss those plastic store hangers out and keep the heavy duty plastic ones you buy in packs of ten.  Your closet will thank you.
  • Clean out your bedside table:  We have a habit of throwing things in the bedside table to clear up the top of the table, or get any small loose items off of the bed before going to sleep.  Take a few minutes to clean that table out/off and get rid of any trash/trinkets that aren’t an every day need!
