Tips: Clean Your Home Like A Pro

Have you ever thought of aquiring paid cleaning services?  It would be so nice to have someone clean your house twice a week but that gets pretty expensive, so I just create a time where I can do it myself using the cleaning tips from the pros.

The first thing you need to do is schedule a cleaning time.  The cleaning professionals do not quit until the job is done, and neither should you!  Schedule the job and stick to it to get the work done in record time.  I have never heard of a cleaning service who promises to show up on some Saturday or whenever they aren’t busy – write it on the calendar and stick to it.

Next, I get motivated.  I refuse to pause and watch a TV program or check my email (unless I am waiting for something important).  I play upbeat music for an energy boost.  It also helps to clean as a team with friends or family members to stay on task.

One of the most important tips is to invest in proper cleaning tools.  Professional cleaners do not use gadgets to clean.  You will never see them using an automatic vacuum or some sort of invention that shows up on a television infomercial.  Buy good tools, once and use them!

Simplify your supplies to avoid confusion and longer-than-needed cleaning sessions.  Professional cleaners go to work with the “big four” supplies:

  • Light-duty evaporating cleaner (glass cleaner or multi-surface cleaner)
  • Heavy-duty degreasing cleaner
  • Tile and bathroom cleaner
  • Powdered abrasive cleanser

That’s it!  No soap scum remover, no special counter spray, no single-use products designed to clean only blinds or fans or walls.  The professionals know that with these four simple products they will be able to handle any ordinary cleaning chore.

What are your cleaning tips?  Do you have any to add to the list?
