With the cold wind outside and the craziness of the holiday season there are a lot of great excuses to cuddle up with a snack and movie this time of year. Take advantage of it! Grab a cozy blanket, a warm cup of something, and watch some of my all-time favorite Christmas movies:
- First place has to go to How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the original animated version and the live version with Jim Carrey. Sometimes other Christmas movies can be just a little bit too sweet, and it’s nice to watch a movie that makes me laugh and gives me hope for a Grinch like me.
- Another classic that makes me laugh out loud is Elf. Unlike the Grinch, Buddy the Elf is absolutely full to bursting with Christmas cheer and I love chuckling at his earnestness.
- When I’m in the mood for something that feels more “traditional” I watch The Polar Express. This movie always gives me the warm and fuzzy feelings (I’m pretty sure it’s not just the hot chocolate…) and has absolutely stunning and award winning animation.
- Another example of award winning animation (actually clay-mation technically) can be found in The Nightmare Before Christmas. This movie combines my two favorite holidays, Halloween and Christmas, into one delightful movie that’s just scary enough to make me snuggle a little further into my blanket.
- Finally, the ultimate classic has to be It’s a Wonderful Life. This movie was released in 1946 and its message of the true meaning of Christmas still rings true. It’s a really great to watch for when the holiday stress can seem like too much.
