There are many challenges associated with starting your own business – many of which can be attributed to the fact that you are surrounded by competition from the get-go. In fact, a recent study found that “across the United States, over 543,000 new businesses open every month.”
As such, to succeed, you need to become a masterful self-promoter. This means you need to put together an expansive marketing campaign that ticks all the right boxes. This way, you can:
- Boost web traffic and sales
- Increase conversions
- Improve brand awareness
- Build a relationship with your customers.

With that in mind, here are three simple ways to promote your business!
Hand out Business Cards.
In the modern world, it’s easy to forget about the more tried and tested marketing methods, such as handing out business cards in favor of digital strategies. However, business cards are still worthwhile, especially when you consider the fact that “the average website has a conversion rate of 2.35%, while the conversion rate for business cards is 12%.”
Nevertheless, it’s also crucial that you design a business card that is both eye-catching and professional in order to ensure you reach your desired outcome. One way you can achieve this goal is by printing business cards onto high-quality colored cardstock. After all, a recent study found that people are 10 times more likely to keep hold of a brightly colored business card than white ones.
Go ‘Live’ on Social Media.
Going live on your preferred social media platform, be that Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok, is another excellent marketing strategy. There are many reasons for this. Firstly, it gives you a chance to connect with your target audience, which means you can avoid some of the many marketing mistakes that come hand in hand with not properly understanding your audience.
Furthermore, live streams tend to be favored by social media algorithms, meaning your brand’s page will appear on the feeds of people who don’t already follow you – which can help increase your reach quite considerably. Furthermore, video footage gives you the chance to show off your products or services in action.
Show the ‘face’ behind your brand.
Many studies have found that customers prefer to support brands that have a human side to them – as this can feel much more personable. As a result, it is important that you show the face(s) behind your brand as much as possible.
Fortunately, there are many ways in which you can do this – such as by hosting live streams, Q&As, and in-person events. You should also include a ‘meet the team’ section on your website, which shares a little more information regarding the people who work within your company (even if this is just you). Again, this adds a human touch to your branding and helps customers understand who they are supporting. As a result, you should avoid an overly formal tone in this section and use it as an opportunity to help customers get to know the real you.
I hate going to vendor shows, but I like to keep my face attached to my small business. People are more likely to shop with me if they feel they know me personally and have a connection with me. Business cards are a must as well. I pass out about 100 each weekend at the events that I attend and usually see a good amount placing an order from me soon after.
Business cards are definitely a plus and connecting personally with your customers is a key to success! Thank you for sharing!
